چکیده

ƒ In each study, we used a simulation model to identify a subpopulation based on age and clinical risk, for whom we used genetic testing to find intensified prevention measures, which was optimally costeffective. ƒ As more genetic tests become available, this method can be used to identify screening strategies that maximize cost-effectiveness. ƒ We develop a framework for stratified costeffectiveness analysis using individual-based discrete-event simulations that allow for the representation of heterogeneous patient populations, and which can be used to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of genetic testing in different patient groups.

Background: Epidemiological studies are shown robust association between human papillomavirus (HPV) and cervical cancer. From 1990 HPV was known as a necessary but insufficient cause of cervical invasive cancer. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the cost effectiveness of HPV test in cervical cancer screening. Materials and Methods: This is a systematic review article; the newest scienti...

Introduction: Lung cancer is the most common and most deadly cancer in most of countries of the world. One of the most significant problems with this cancer is the lack of accurate and specific statistics about the prevalence and mortality rate in Iran. Results of cancer registry program in 2008 in Iran indicated a low incidence rate of lung cancer. However, these statistics...

Health benefits and cost-effectiveness of primary genetic screening for Lynch syndrome in the general population.

In current clinical practice, genetic testing to detect Lynch syndrome mutations ideally begins with diagnostic testing of an individual affected with cancer before offering predictive testing to at-risk relatives. An alternative strategy that warrants exploration involves screening unaffected individuals via demographic and family histories, and offering genetic testing to those individuals wh...

The use of gene tests to detect hereditary predisposition to cancer: economic considerations.

Several mutations recently have been shown to be associated with hereditary nonpolyposis colon cancer (HNPCC) in families displaying unusually strong predisposition to colorectal cancer. Laboratory tests to detect such gene mutations soon will be commercially available, raising the possibility for population-wide screening. The purpose of this study was to explore the economic implications of c...
